FWB:  This stands for Friends with Benefits. This is a relationship where both the parties consider themselves to be platonic friends, having no romantic status or attachments, but may engage in casual sexual activities from time to time.

PPM:  Stands for Pay-Per-Meet, sometimes this arrangement can be used at the beginning of an SD/SB relationship when you’ve not yet started meeting on a regular, or it’s not possible for one of you but can allow everyone to gain from the dates or meetings.

NSA:  This stands for No Strings Attached. It’s an agreement in a relationship that has no kinds of commitments or even intended commitments be required, expected, or suggested by any party in the relationship.

STA:  Stands for a Short-Term Arrangement. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship between an SB and a SD over a short period usually of 6 or fewer months.

LTA:  This means a Long Term Arrangement. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement between a SM/SD and a SB that is meant to be of a longer, more substantial duration, usually more than 6 months, whether or not it was intended right from the start of your arrangement.

LBD:  Stands for a Little Black Dress. Refers to an outfit which makes a Sugar Baby feel attractive and confident.  While often black, the dress can be of any color, in theory.

Sugar Dating Terms and Phrases

The following are some of the phrases and terms you will need to learn if you’re to venture into the sugar dating world.

Sugar Relationship:  This is a mutually beneficial arrangement usually between a Sugar Baby and Sugar Daddy, whereby one party will provide financially and the other will provide an exciting companionship and other related benefits.

Sugar Baby:  This is a beautiful, young lady seeking a financial security provider, but may also, refer to a young man who is in need of a gay SD/SB relationship.

Sugar Daddy:  Often, a wealthy older man who’s willing to cater to a good-looking, young woman in exchange for her time, companionship, and attention.

Sugar Mommy:  This is a wealthy older woman, who is ready to provide for a young man in exchange for having a relationship with her.

Sugar Honey:  This is a rich young woman who can cater to a man’s financial needs in exchange for his companionship.

Sugar Pup:  This term is used in describing a male Sugar Baby, whether in a heterosexual or same-sex relationship.

Sugar Bear:  A rich young man that can provide for a Sugar Baby in exchange for companionship.

Budget:  The amount of money a Sugar Baby requires/needs so as to make this arrangement beneficial to her.

Sugar Bowl:  This is where the whole aspect of sugar dating is compared to a bowl of sweet sugar.

Big Daddy:  A considerably wealthy Sugar Daddy who knows no limits to what he can spend on his Sugar Baby.

Splenda Daddy/Mommy:  This is a reference to an imitator/wannabe Sugar Daddy/Mommy who isn’t actually wealthy enough to become a real Sugar Daddy/Mommy.  They might be able to cover a few expensive dates, dinners, or gifts, but they won’t be able to provide financial security to their Sugar Babies.  They may be kind of fun for occasional outings, but they are definitely not capable of having a LTA with a Sugar Baby.

Salt Daddy/Mommy:  This is a fake SD/SM who is lying about how wealthy they are and are hoping they attract a SB for a quick fling or someone who is wealthy enough to spend a fortune on a SB but doesn’t want to follow through on their promises after getting what they wanted from a Sugar Baby.

Salty:  This is a term used when describing an individual who may be unhappy with their relationship or the whole sugar dating world.

Angel Baby:  This is a beautiful, cultured, elegant Sugar Baby who has turned this into a career and has got high expectations and high needs to maintain her lifestyle.

Tuition Baby:  This is a Sugar Baby in search of a SD to help her pay for her educational expenses.

Arrangement:  This is a formalized settlement between a SD/SM and a Sugar Baby asserting what each will give in the relationship.

Hookup:  This refers to set up or meeting for sex only, mostly requested by persons who are not intending to form any kind of arrangement and don’t understand what real sugar dating entails.

Road Sugar: This is a Sugar Daddy who searches for a Sugar Baby that he can visit while he’s away from home and will insist on the utmost discretion.

Sugar on the Side:  This is a Sugar Baby belonging to a married Sugar Daddy.

Allowance:  This is an amount of money given to a Sugar Baby on a regularly basis as part of a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Freestyle:  This is searching for a SD/SM outside sugar dating sites, like by hanging around places where rich sugar Daddies love hanging out or attending wealthy older men events.

As pop culture keeps growing and changing, these terms and phrases will, too, change. However, the above list can at least give you a good start in understanding the sugar dating language and how this world operates and even the fitting terms used for those that are in it.  In addition to that getting to understand these phrases will surely save you time and trouble of having to keep on nagging others for explanations.
